Our Board of Directors:
Dr. Jerry McClelland

Jerry grew up in the mid-western part of the US where she attended college and graduate school. She was a professor in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota since from 1980 to 2007, when she retired. She has traveled extensively in Europe and has visited, taught, or presented scholarly papers in Pakistan, England, The Netherlands, Taiwan, Jamaica, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, and she taught international students from every continent but Antarctica. She is currently a docent at the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis.

 

Dr. Eric Winkel

 Eric is a Muslim scholar of Islamic law, and especially the work of Muhyiddin Ibn `Arabi. His graduate work is in "South Asia Regional Studies" and "Government and International Studies". He began language study at the International School of Geneva, Switzerland (French, German, and Latin) and continued in Haverford College while studying early Christianity (Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Coptic, Syriac) and the University of Pennsylvania (Sanskrit, Tamil). He has since learned Urdu-Hindi, Dhivehi, Punjabi, Malayalam, and Sinhala. He has teaching experience from the International Islamic University in Malaysia, Quaid-i-Azam University in Pakistan, Central Michigan University in Mexico City and the University of New Mexico. He led a small team in 2000 in creating a charter school in Santa Fe, and in 2001 co-founded Bridge Academy in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He travels extensively and is the author of four academic books, one novel, and numerous academic articles.


 

malihaMs Maliha Husain  

Maliha was born and raised in Pakistan and now lives in the USA. She has worked in the social development sector for a number of years and has a diverse professional background working with non-profits and on women’s issues. Presently she works for a non-profit. She has traveled in Europe, Asia and Africa. She is a mother of three children, Sadaf teaching at a University and Amar and Samar, twins, in high school. She feels very strongly about human rights, social justice, pluralism and a tolerant, gender-balanced society.

MGF-USA has been created to            

  1. financially support the activities of Mehergarh: A Center for Learning, Pakistan,  by raising funds for them.

Mission  

MGF-USA Foundation, with the help of MeherGarh: A Center for Learning, is dedicated to creating acritical mass of young people who are committed to develop responsible citizenship, progressive leadership and an impetus for collective action. Our approach is embedded in rediscovering and owning the depth and breath of the diverse culture of Pakistan, which is thousands of years old. We believe that transforming the culture and grounding the initiatives in it is crucial to our work.
