Our Partners in Pakistan

MG Foundation has a sister organization in Pakistan called MeherGarh: A Center for Learning. MeherGarh is responding with two initiatives to the violence in Swat. We are partnering with MeherGarh on the second initiative.

First, MeherGarh initiated the Amankaar Tehrik, (Movement of the peace workers) an awareness raising campaign for youth and general citizens, to help analyze the complicated situation in Swat. Amankaar Tehrik formulated a clear charter of demands for the government of Pakistan, encouraging it to protect its citizens from violent non-state actors. It is also organizing a series of peaceful citizens’ gatherings to mail letters on their stance to the President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army Staff and Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Second, since there are hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people from Swat, there is a desperate need for temporary accommodations for them. In view of this need, MeherGarh is opening its training facilities to help house the displaced people of Swat. MeherGarh will provide the facility, management of the camp, three meals a day, medical expenses and other needs they might have for the next two months.

We can help these displaced people by donating money for their expenses. One hundred percent of donations collected by MG Foundation will go to MeherGarh for the needs of the displaced people in the camp. Please click on the contribution button.

Contributions are tax deductible, so please provide your postal or e-mail address so we can write you a letter noting the contribution is tax deductible.
